Waltz for Zizi by Yoko Kanno

A lonely statue surrounded by history. The idea was to put contrasting visuals and audio together. The song may be relaxing and carefree, but the story presented is a disturbing picture of a possible future. The statue was inspired by the manga Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou by Hitoshi Ashinano. In it, the statue represents humanity, an ancient symbol since the present planet was dying and the few humans left were just enjoying the time they had left. The statue in this video is derived from that idea, of a time past, and a history that persists. For the rotation, I used a vinyl turntable and simply stuck the statue in the middle and turned it on. The lights in the background were created with a Christmas light display my family had laying around. I really loved the visuals in this video, they were simple, yet beautiful.

I do not own the song used in this video, and I do not make money from this.
